InterSystems TrakCare™ is an Internet-based, unified Healthcare Information System that provides a full range of clinical, administrative, laboratory and community care capabilities. It is a multi-language system that is pre-configured by InterSystems to address local market requirements, enabling customers to rapidly deploy and benefit from the system.
In September 2011, InterSystems Corporation marked their decision to sell directly into the French healthcare solutions market by acquiring Siemens Health Services (SHS) in France, along with the widely used Clinicom patient administration system. Clinicom was originally developed for the French market by US supplier Shared Medical Systems, who were later acquired by Siemens. Clinicom is developed and deployed on InterSystems Caché® high performance database in more than 60 sites across France.
In November of 2011, InterSystems began a collaborative process with GHICL and five other leading hospital Clinicom customers to define their requirements for the construction of the French Edition of TrakCare. This software is now ready for installation at GHICL and other customer sites, includes predefined workflows, screen layouts, reports, integrations, and other components that are tailored to the practices of French hospitals.
TrakCare complements and extends the comprehensive capabilities of the Clinicom hospital administration and billing system. A key objective of the TrakCare French Edition is to link seamlessly TrakCare and Clinicom for a complete clinical and administrative solution optimised to the policies and practices of health care in France.
Supported by the Catholic Institute of Lille, GHICL is a private, non-profit university hospital group that manages 686 beds across two facilities, with comprehensive care services that include emergency, surgery, pharmacy, adult psychiatry, obstetrics, paediatric, rehabilitation, and advanced technical units such as laboratories and specialist surgeries. GHICL works in partnership with the Free Faculty of Medicine and the local Nursing school to provide education services for health professionals, providing university hospital-level quality of care at no extra cost. Care providers from GHICL also visit patients in their homes and use the latest technologies for innovative and efficient solutions.
For nearly 10 years, GHICL has managed its administration using InterSystems software technologies through third-party applications for accounting, human resources, payroll, and more recently, patient administration and billing. It also relied on clinical modules for medication management, pharmacy stock control, and emergencies as well as using connections to third-party modules for care planning, workflow management, chemotherapy and Government remuneration. InterSystems technologies were used to run or connect all parts of this comprehensive set of care systems.
"Convinced by the potential of InterSystems' solution, by its business approach, and the breadth of its experience, we decided to move to the French Edition of TrakCare in order to benefit from InterSystems' expertise and experience in offering a reliable solution that has already been proven in other countries. InterSystems' project management methodology was also a deciding factor. We intend to prove that rapid deployment is an important factor for success and value creation in a complex project of this nature," confirms Philippe Wlodyka, CIO of GHICL.
"InterSystems is delighted that GHCIL has chosen to implement TrakCare, and we hope that many more of our customers and prospects will soon reach the same conclusion that by adding InterSystems TrakCare to Clinicom, hospitals will improve the quality of patient outcomes and deliver rapid and measurable operational cost efficiencies," stated Eddie Anoufa, Country Manager, InterSystems France.
