What's in Store for Med-e-Tel 2010?

The 8th annual Med-e-Tel, international Telemedicine and eHealth conference, is scheduled for 14-16 April 2010 in Luxembourg. An official event now of the International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth (ISfTeH), Med-e-Tel will again be host to key telemedicine/ehealth stakeholders from around Europe and the world, who will share experiences, best practices and research results.

The Med-e-Tel conference program and expo will feature presentations, discussions, products and technologies in the following areas:

  • homecare/independent living (through telecare, telehealth, assistive technology)
  • chronic disease management
  • telecardiology
  • telenursing
  • clinical telemedicine (focusing on triage in primary health care and telepoliclinc ground rounds)
  • quality standards for teleconsultation
  • cybertherapy, cyberpsychology, rehabilitation
  • ehealth solutions in developing countries and low resource settings
  • elearning
  • open source software in health care
  • biomedical technologies/bioinformatics (focusing on biotechnology, functional genomics, toxicogenomics, cardiology, device research, radiology, pharmacogenomics, mobile economics)
  • a regional (Luxembourg, Belgium, France) seminar, focusing on new coordinated care networks and the evolution of the health profession and looking at the demographic evolutions, impact on care organizations and new roles for all players involved (hospitals, nursing/care homes, home care services, care professionals, health insurers, public authorities)
  • virtual session presented by the ISfTeH Student Working Group, over the Elluminate webconferencing platform, presenting research from ISfTeH student members from around the world
  • and more to be announced...

Throughout the past 8 years, Med-e-Tel has been recognized as a great networking event, offering educational and training opportunities (CME credits provided for medical professionals) and serving as a catalyst and activator for business activities.

Important dates

  • 1 September 2009 - Call for Abstracts opens
  • 31 December 2009 - Abstract submission deadline
  • 15 January 2010 - Notification of acceptance
  • 8 February 2010 - Deadline for camera-ready submission of full text papers
  • 31 March 2010 - Deadline for submitting PowerPoint presentations
  • 14-16 April 2010 - Med-e-Tel 2010
