Cleveland Clinic Deploys Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX PACS to Deliver Improved Productivity and Enhanced Communications
Wednesday, 30 November 2011
Agfa HealthCareAgfa HealthCare announces that the Cleveland Clinic has successfully deployed Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX 6.5 solution as the network's PACS (picture archiving and communication system). The facility installed IMPAX 6.5, the latest software version, as part of its contract with Agfa HealthCare to provide the Agfa HealthCare IMPAX platform.

The centralized Imaging Clinical Information System (ICIS) is built upon
IMPAX Data Center, an image management and repository solution that provides a rich suite of image capture, store, exchange and access services. The ICIS implementation is part of the clinic's strategy to develop a single repository and point of access for all medical imaging data across the enterprise, encompassing not only radiology but also the rapidly growing number of other imaging information producing departments, such as ophthalmology and digestive disease. To support the strategy, the Clinic plans to deploy Agfa HealthCare's XERO technology viewer, allowing imaging information to be viewed directly from the Clinic's Epic electronic health record (EHR) solution.

Migration of legacy image data: throughput with stability
The Cleveland Clinic migrated 5.6 million studies. IMPAX 6.5 is a fully integrated RIS/PACS workflow solution for data management and reporting, offering improved productivity through the complete imaging chain, from order management to results distribution. IMPAX 6.5 leverages automated task management with an efficient presentation of relevant clinical information synchronized to the study to support informed healthcare delivery.

Key focus for workflow efficiency in mammography
One of the key focuses for workflow efficiency in IMPAX 6.5 is Women's Care, and the Cleveland Clinic Breast Center, part of the Cleveland Clinic Women's Health Institute, was the first group to "go live" in 2010. The results, including the reduction in the number of technologist workflow steps by at least 30 percent and the reduction in the number of radiologist workflow steps by at least 40 percent or more are documented in the white paper, "Diagnostic Breast Imaging Solution Eliminates Digital Islands and Integrates Workflow."
